How payments work

Draft: this document is being reviewed by our solicitor and may change before launch.
1. The short version
Your clients pay you, not Fenquist. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments go through your own Stripe account straight to your bank. Bank transfers go directly to the account on your invoice. Fenquist never holds, receives or moves your money, and is not a bank or payment institution.
2. Card and wallet payments
- You connect your own Stripe account in Settings. Stripe checks your identity and pays out to your bank on its usual schedule.
- Clients pay on a secure page from your invoice or payment link. Card details are entered on Stripe's systems; Fenquist never sees full card numbers.
- Stripe charges its standard processing fee on each payment. Fenquist adds no fee of its own.
- Paid invoices are marked paid automatically when Stripe confirms the payment.
3. Bank transfers
Invoices can show your bank details so clients can pay by transfer. You record these payments yourself, or mark the invoice paid.
To protect against invoice fraud, once you've sent invoices, new bank details only appear on invoices 24 hours after they're changed, and the owner is emailed straight away and can cancel the change.
4. Refunds and disputes
You are the seller. Refunds to your clients are made from your Stripe account, and card disputes (chargebacks) are handled by Stripe with you, under Stripe's terms. For refunds of your own Fenquist plan, see our refunds policy.
5. If you're paying an invoice
You're paying the business named on the invoice, which uses Fenquist to send it. Questions about what you're paying for, or a refund, go to that business. If an invoice or bank details look wrong, check with the business by phone before paying, and tell us at security@fenquist.com.
