Start freeMargin isn't markup
Margin is profit as a share of the selling price; markup is profit as a share of the cost. Something that costs £60 and sells for £100 has a 40% margin but a 66.7% markup. Pricing for a 40% margin by adding 40% to cost leaves you short: you'd charge £84 and make a 28.6% margin.
