Getting paid as a cleaner

  • For weekly clients, one invoice a month listing each visit saves you and them time.
  • Charge deep cleans, end-of-tenancy and one-off jobs as their own lines with a fixed price.
  • If you bring the products, say so and price them in or list them separately.

Every UK invoice also needs a unique number, the date, your name and address, your client's details, what you supplied and the amount due. More on what an invoice must show.

Do cleaners charge VAT?

Only once VAT registered. Below £90,000 turnover most sole-trader cleaners aren't, so they don't add VAT.

How do I invoice regular cleaning?

A recurring monthly invoice with the number of visits as the quantity. Fenquist can send it automatically on the same day each month.
