Getting paid as a painter and decorator

  • Price by room or area, then add materials. Customers compare quotes this way.
  • Note any extra work agreed on site (filling, extra coats) so it doesn't look like a surprise.
  • For bigger jobs, a materials deposit up front is normal.

Every UK invoice also needs a unique number, the date, your name and address, your client's details, what you supplied and the amount due. More on what an invoice must show.

Should materials be on a separate line?

Yes. It shows the customer what they paid for and helps if they ask for a breakdown later.

When should I send the invoice?

On the day you finish, ideally while you're still there. A payment link means you're often paid before you've packed up.

Is this painter and decorator invoice template free?

Yes, with no sign-up. Fill it in, download the PDF and send it. Nothing you type is uploaded.
