Getting paid as a videographer

  • Separate shooting days from post-production. Clients approve edits later than shoots, so you may invoice them at different times.
  • State how many rounds of revisions are included. Unlimited edits are where video projects lose money.
  • Licensed music, stock footage and travel are costs you can pass on: put them on their own lines.

Every UK invoice also needs a unique number, the date, your name and address, your client's details, what you supplied and the amount due. More on what an invoice must show.

When should I invoice a video project?

Many videographers take 50% to book the shoot date and invoice the balance on delivery of the final cut, before releasing the master files.

Can I invoice in euros or dollars?
